The first faux grass-roots, guerilla dirty political tricks stunt to strike the public's fancy in a hit-and-run popularity crash has come and gone.

My friend the cultural farmer made a sweet mashup of the subject Apple and faux Obama.com commercials side by side. Interesting to compare the two.

Found both message and motive strange. What did this fellow Phil hope to accomplish?

Politics & dirty tricks are easy on the Internet. But dangerous; and the individual who thinks anonymity more than two layers thick in the digital playspace is sadly mistaken.

Note that Philip deVellis used to have videos up at Blip.tv. All gone now.

Could Apple sue de Vellis for copyright infringement? Would they? Naw.

Damnably good piracy, that.

Will the Real Blog Stand Up?

Noted yesterday that a YouTube video linked to from VoteHillary.org has been taken down for TOS violations. Figured I ought to upload a screenshot of the thing.

As I peruse VoteHillary.org, most of the video has similarly been taken down for TOS violations since they are (based on the thumbnails) clips taken from news broadcasts.

I can't tell if VoteHillary.org is Clinton-authorized, but on closer examination, it's not very professionally done and with the video TOS thing, it looks pretty bad. Adittedly, it's not the first to come up in a Google search. As a confirmed contrarian, I don't usually go to the top-of-the-search locations first.

It would behoove the Clinton camp to get with VoteHillary.org and see what's what over there.

This site is official, and the first returned in Google's search. Clinton's got a blog and video on the site, but they're not sending the videos down the RSS pipe, nor do they make the videos portable. I would have liked to share a video here, but cannot.

More recent videos prove Senator Clinton more authentic than in her presidential announcement, but not quite enough to draw undecided voters over.

For sure, 2008 will be one of the most interesting and important elections in history.

Bill Marriott's Got a Podcast :: Why Smoke-Free Hotels

In a recent podcast, Marriott defends the decision to eliminate smoking rooms in all his hotels.

In another (one of his first, the podcast enclosed herewith), he addresses new Federal regulations requiring U.S. citizens to show a passport when re-entering the country from Canada, Mexico and a bunch of other places.

The big guys continue to buy into the blog / vlog / podcast fray. Hey, even the President and the Department of Homeland Security have RSS feeds.

Excellent.

The show notes for the smoking piece are:

"We really received a lot of comments on the blog about Marriott's decision last year to take all our hotels in North America 100 percent smoke free. That includes Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott, Marriott Hotels, Renaissance, Courtyard, Residence Inn, SpringHill Suites, our Fairfield Inns, and even our TownePlace Suites.

"One of our very best customers who smokes blogged back to me and said, "I'll never come back to a Marriott." Well, that's a tough pill for us to swallow. But we made this decision because we knew it's what our customers wanted. And it certainly is what our associates deserved."

This is precisely the kind of issue that is best addressed by the head honcho.

Well done, Mr. Marriott, though a more conversational tone might lend more credibility and warmth to your show.

Is Barack Obama the One for President?

Thanks to my friends Jen and Kent, found this video that - if true - would give me hope.

Today my hope is that Barack Obama speaks the truth.

Bottom line is, the only politician I will be able to wholly trust is one who eschews all corporate financial support and depends solely on campaign contributions from individuals. Such a candidate would have to declare this strategy early on. Such a candidate would surely rise to the top of the peoples' hearts and minds and pocketbooks.

Overcoming Psychological Resistance to 9/11 Truth
