Faux Obama Ad :: The Media Nipple Way

The first faux grass-roots, guerilla dirty political tricks stunt to strike the public's fancy in a hit-and-run popularity crash has come and gone.

My friend the cultural farmer made a sweet mashup of the subject Apple and faux Obama.com commercials side by side. Interesting to compare the two.

Found both message and motive strange. What did this fellow Phil hope to accomplish?

Politics & dirty tricks are easy on the Internet. But dangerous; and the individual who thinks anonymity more than two layers thick in the digital playspace is sadly mistaken.

Note that Philip deVellis used to have videos up at Blip.tv. All gone now.

Could Apple sue de Vellis for copyright infringement? Would they? Naw.

Damnably good piracy, that.

JetBlue :: Another Perspective :: Vulnerability

Another perspective on JetBlue HERE, from Jory Des Jardins @ FastCompany.com

Don't fly much. It's become horribly degrading, and I get enough degradation just sitting still in my room.

What most impressed me about Jardins' take is how she wraps it up:

Note that I said earlier that my negative JetBlue experience "broke my heart," not "inconvenienced me" or "pissed me off." This is a notable distinction, the language of a customer who is used to positive customer experience and not just decent customer service.
Wrote about the JetBlue SNAFU earlier in the week, defending Steve Bryant's critique of Neeleman's YouTube video for "non-apology."

Neeleman shows us vulnerability.

Honest vulnerability is difficult to attack without appearing to be a bully.

I've long asked how 'hearts' might be transplanted into corporate bodies.

Vulnerability is one way to do that.

What other techniques add corporate 'heart'?

Jet Blue CEO's YouTube Videoblog

Thanks to Steve Bryant at NewTeeVee for pointing out another interesting executive video.

To Steve I say that Jet Blue's David Neeleman gets lots and lots of points for not reading from a script. So many folks these days are reading from scripts whose performances have left me cold. Hillary Clinton and Mr. Marriott come to mind. Not to worry, there's a learning curve to mastering authenticity, but you need a dedicated director on board to help you find and learn it.

[Note: Senator Clinton's YouTube announcement video linked from VoteHillary.org has been taken down for TOS violation. Oops.]
Furthermore, I don't need to hear, "I'm sorry." No-sir-ee. The only really meaningful response to a big-time screwup is action. Free flights, hotels, lots of free stuff for that kinda snafu. Let's see if Neeleman's words translate into motion, then re-evaluate.

Checking the JetBlue website, I found this text apology. Also found their new Bill of Rights, though the amounts of compensation do not seem high enough.

Specials :: Dance / Art

Specials :: Dance / Art
Originally uploaded by Jannie-Jan.

From a collection of graphics for restaurant installation in 2002 at Ciao Bella, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, County of Kings, USA.

Somebody at the restaurant broke the glass over one of my paintings. The owner took it to a gallery for repair, but I've not seen the thing since.

Oh, well.
